Back from Porsche Parade/SCCA National Tour

As if you guys didn't already know - an early 911 can still win trophys in national level autocross. Here's how I fared this week:

2nd in class, 5th overall - PCA Porsche Parade Autocross, Portland OR
1st in Class - SCCA Solo 2 National Tour, Packwood WA

Thanks to Chris Powell, Bernie Buschen, Jeff Gamroth and Gordon Ledbetter (all R Gruppe members), as well as Steve Weiner and Greg Fordahl, all of whom were valuable contributers to the developement of my white '72 911 (with ST flares and 2.8L race motor).

    Thanks, Chuck!

I and the car drove better at Parade than at the National Tour - still working out some bugs, but getting closer! Hopefully we will both be ready for Nationals next year. That 914-6 of Leeds Gulick is tough to beat, but I have some ideas..

    Congrats Randy,

Way to fly the early 911 colors buddy. With the correct pilot, most things are possible with our little ol' german gems. High fives all around man!!!!!!

Wasn't there a for sale sign on your car at Parade?

And, Congrats! It is really cool to see an early 911 do well against a bunch of much newer cars.
In perusing pictures from the Packwood event, it looked like there were more 911s running than usual for an SCCA event, nice to see.

    Nicely done, Sir.

Your car sounds simply awesome and I've not heard a 2.8 soundtrack like that since my RSR days.

Go after ALL of the electrical connectors with that Wurth or LubroMoly electrical spray and that will help keep the engine running consistently.

If you don't have any, I'll send you some of the good stuff.
