Thread: R Gruppe infiltrated?

  1. #1

    Thumbs up R Gruppe infiltrated?

Just noticed Dave's great article in Excellence and the fact that 4 of the 8 gruppe photos clearly show short hood cars. Is this a covert operation to extend a welcome to mid year cars in R Gruppe or subversion from the editor?

So Dave what are the travel plans for the Ring?

I just knew letting that touble maker Dane in was a BIG mistake. Shouldn't you be out training - running, swimming, or bike racing?

This has been the elephant in the room for a while now. There were a number of AMAZING short hood cars in Sonoma. Is this the result of being grandfathered from previous ownership of a longhood or something more explicit? I have to admit that I like a well executed short hood built to RGruppe ideals. As long as the big bumpers are gone (like Dane's RSR style cap), I appreciate their presence. How could one ever discriminate against a 3.0 RSR? Hell, I even like the 3.0 CS.

Hey now Rick, it isn't just me! There was Barrett's old 3.8, back in ninja black. The Gulf blue factory '74 CS, Number 23 (aka "beef cuts") RSR. Those I have pics of. I didn't realize there were others Kenikh.

I'm thinking it was Barrett's doing a few years ago with the "original" Turbo transformation.

I was thinking of yours, the "cuts" car and Joe's (ex-Barrett's) black RSR. I can't recall any more, but there may have been! I know there are some backdated SCs, but not sure who's they are.

Thanks guys, glad you liked it. I wish I had about 4 more pages to tell all the stories from the road trip and use more of the photos.
Why the short hoods? Call it a "pity-date". j/k

Perhaps a sequil is in order? "The untold story".

I had to single you out Dane, due to convenience. Trying to catch up to you is too tough, so this will have to work. Yes there were many beautiful short hoods at the Treffen and I enjoy seeing all the marvelous creations - no matter the legnth of their probosci. Yours was prominently displayed an Infineon - a very cool shot.

The article was great reading but was sad that it was so short. Next time, it needs to at least be tripple the size. Easy for me to say since I am not doing the work.

Now Dane, shouldn't you be out training rather than typing? How do you expect to win your age bracket doing this? (That's if you haven't already)

To do that (win my AG) I'd have to first assassinate R. Wagner and another dozen others locally

I'll vote for the continued saga of the "untold story" though.

I sometimes wonder if there is a market for an All Early, All The Time magazine these days? It seems that all the mainstream Porsche rags are more and more about Cayman and 997 tuner cars and like ....
