    Emory's/Parade 2006 Pics

    Another Porsche event, another 1200 mile road-trip west from Colorado.
    This time I drove the quieter, more civilized SC. The impact-bumper car gave me zero grief on the trip & thanks to VI no tickets. Is Oregon the only state with Interstate speeds of 65mph max? Thru Utah & Idaho I was wide open
    Despite the lower limits, my car sure felt great at sea-level !
    Saturday August 5th I hooked up w/ Scott Shores & drove out to Emory's in
    McMinnville, OR for the annual Campout, held this year in August to coincide with the Parade. Great low key event w/ tons of nice cars & plenty of 356's
    & some vintage VW's. The PDX crew was there in full-force...all the usual
    suspects. Had the opportunity to meet some EarlyS registry members I had seen post here, but never in person, Eric Linden & John Audette, both with
    very nice early cars.
    Here are some pics from Emory's I took, plus a few pirated from
    Pelican guru/Javalina fan Scott Shores (ask Scott about that one ).

    Unable to stay at the Parade for the entire week, I left Portland early
    Thursday morning for the long drive back to Colorado.
    Destination Leadville, Colorado elev 10,152, the highest city in the US and the
    site of the famed Leadville 100 mountain bike race. My wife was competing in her 2nd Leadville 100, and I was the lead crewman for Saturday's race.
    1269 miles & 16 hours later I rolled into Leadville Thursday evening in the
    SC. What a long day. Thanks to Redbull/Rockstar & VI for getting me there
    unscathed !

    Saturday's race started at 6:30 am. Here is a pic of my "tougher than nails"
    wife at the finish line. She finished under the 12 hour cut-off & endured
    weather, elevations over 12,000 ft & over 13000 ft of climbing.
    At the finish line she said "that's the last Leadville 100 for me".
    This morning she asked me "...hey what do you think about racing it on a Tandem?"

    Sorry for the off-topic diversion, but I'm pretty proud of her !
