    steering wheel question

I just installed a Momo Prototipo in my 73S (boy was that center nut a bugger to loosen). I like the thicker diameter and smaller wheel but I'm not sure I like the distance that the 0230 hub adapter places the wheel from the turn signal and wiper stalks. It's a bit too far from the dashboard. Also, the right side turn signal cancel feature quit on me?! 1) Are there other hub adapter sizes available, and 2) Is the new wheel the cause of my turn signal not clicking back or is my car pissed at me for replacing my 380mm perfectly fine steering wheel? Thanks.

    Nick,
    1. I have had 2 different Momo hubs in my car. The first is the commonly available collapseable ribbed version you describe nad the second being the hard to find bell shaped version. The bell shaped version is shorter and people will often run a spacer combo to give it height. I am currently running the bell shaped version with a flat prototipo which is a great combo. I will soon be doing the opposite of you as I wait the return of my 380mm from Tony.

    2. You might want to check the steering column for the "fingers" which I believe are on the left hand side. They sometimes get bent and will no longer engage the cancel ring on your hub.I have had to "fine Tune" mine in the past by bending them back into place.

Question: for people running the original 400mm wheel, what is the distance from the wheel to the dashboard. With your hand in the 12 o'clock position, do your fingers touch the dashboard when extended and your hand still on the wheel?

    Bob,

Could you comment on your findings regarding the Prototipo wheels? Specifically, flat vs. "slight dish"?

Are the ones commonly available through Pelican, etc. the "slight dish"? Is there an older "flat" version of the Prototipo made by Momo?

Ah yes, and pics of that beautiful car with your recently acquired "flat" wheel.

    Thanks,

thanks Bob. I am actually planning to send my 380 to Tony shortly. I will give your "fine tuning" a try and keep my eyes open for the other size bell shaped hub. I believe Classico Wheels might be a source.
