Has anyone heard of a 350mm steering wheel???

Going through ten years of hoarding (big clearout of parts!) I went through a box I bought year and years ago - only to find this:

I've never seen or heard of a 350mm wheel - any ideas? It has no obvious markings but I plan on cleaning it up properly over the weekend - does look very, very like my 380mm in the RS - only is clearly double wrapped - confused!?

    Any advice much appreciated

    Funny Hub attachment

Their is something funny with that steering wheel...........If you look in the area that is covered by the horn button. The hub has rusty nuts attached to screws or bolts.

All Porsche factory wheels were Riveted.

    This is sombody's custom job.

    I hope that helps,

I believe that is from the ultra ultra rare 1965 RSRST rally car piloted by Dr. Porsche himself. Probably priceless

Even if it is custom, I like it! If you want to sell it, I am interested.

Surely you mean the 917 engined 912 special?

Seriously - it doesn't look like a hookey special - seems very original - and sorry - it's not for sale - too interesting and will probably end up on my RS for a while

Any clues as to it's history / origination would be much appreciated.

Looks like a Camaro wheel with a Porsche hub and butterfly. Interesting. Stitching on the back of the spokes looks like it too.

If you want more trivia.......Looking at the back of the wheel, the turn canceller is usually only fastened by the two countersunk screws to the hub. This one also has 3 screws pinning the canceller on its outer ring to the hub.???

I wouldn't know why that is needed.

It is a 911 hub. Does the butterfly have enough play to beep the horn?

Someone must have made it for their outlaw, or race car. yeah.

    keep revving them.
