How would putting SSI affect 69S value?

As I am finishing the job of a partial rebuild of my 69S 2.0 litre engine, I am wondering if I should replace the OEM exhaust with SSI exhaust. What affect is this likely to have, if any, on the value of my 69S?

Don't worry Don, it won't affect value whatsoever. Hold onto the stockers, but SSIs are considered a good upgrade.

SSI heat exchangers is like buying an insurance policy against rust on one part of your car. It never needs to be replaced.
It may not increase the resale value of the car, but it is a plus.

This product is one of only a few items available in the aftermarket that is far superior to what Porsche churned out of the factory when our cars were new. SSI, IMHO, has become the "standard of care" when it comes to exhaust systems for early 911 cars.

I'm getting off topic a bit, because the original question was about a 1969 car. The original exhaust in '65 and '66 was prone to cracking and pretty much has to be replaced with a more modern (i.e. '67 or later part).

I have only heard of one set of the '65 -- '66 heat exchangers even being in someone's possession.

As far as I know, the SSI is a stainless steel replica of the '67 heat exchanger, except for a change in routing of one pipe to achieve true equal length. And, of course, SSI also markets a version for MFI cars which obviously isn't the '67 version.

The 'equal length' part is hwat makes the SSI superior.

I need to pull mine off later today. I might find myself reconsidering that superiority thing.

The equal length pipe blocks easy access to one of the exhaust header studs.

As it turns out, the stud which is blocked by that extra equal length pipe in the SSI isn't hard to get at. The stud on the other side of that pipe is hard to get at. I think I'll be buying a 12mm "flex" socket before I reinstall.
