Thread: New ESSES !!!!

i know this is not my business but if you guys are using month joined renewal dates you might want to consider using a single annual date. much easier to track.

we did this at a trap/skeet club i was treasurer for and it made life soooo much easier. for those that joined after a certain date (say September 1) the next year was included so as not to short them.

Do you guys get a membership card with your membership? If so, the expiration date should be printed right below your name.

That's my understanding unless the management changed the MO. Chuck could answer that one.

    Smile Membership renewal dates

    Hi All,
In case you haven't noticed, your membership renewal date is listed next to your name on the address label i.e. (ExpMar06). And yes, thanks Sherwood, your membership card has the expiration date (quarter) listed under your name. Your final issue will also have a stamp reminding you to renew, added by John Dilger, who does the mailing. Since your membership dues entitles you to four issues of the Esses, the expiration dates are: ExpMar06, Jun06, Sep06, and Dec06. When you join your expiration date is one year from the quarter of the current newsletter, sent to new members. It may not be one year from the calendar date you joined.
One month after your expiration date I send out an e-mail reminder. I send out a post card to those who don't have e-mail (or to those of you who changed your e-mail and didn't tell me). I sort the database by expiration date.
All this dialog is a result of us being very late with our newsletters. (A lifeboat case). Yes, I could have sent you (ExpMar06) a notice in April 2006 that your membership expired. However, I don't think you would have been anxious to renew since the March newsletter (Volume 16#1) had not yet been published.
Thanks for your suggestions. I will take them under consideration.

    Thanks for joinging in, Fred.

However, I don't believe that people's membership or renewal is based on the reciept of a club newsletter. Sure, a newsletter is a nice bonus, but I think the real reason people join and renew their memberships is for the comraderie. This is fostered - in most part - by this BBS as well as the group atmosphere at the numerous gatherings throughout the year.

All that aside, I am more than willing to volunteer my time to crunch numbers and track dates if you need help with the membership/database for the club. Feel free to drop me a line and tell me what I can do to help.

The same goes for John Dilger ... if you need help with ESSES I have plenty of spare time that I am willing to donate to the club.
