    Tail of the Dragon Week!

On my way from St Louis to Charleston this Wednesday and am planning on visiting the Dragon. It has almost been 2 years since Larry and Kermit paid a visit( boy does time fly). I'm wondering if any one has visited recently and their thoughts, advice etc. Also I'm staying at the Tapoco Lodge. Again any experiece or thoughts? Finally, I will be trying for Greenville SC and I385 to I26. Any thoughts on a good route from Robbinsville NC to Greenville will be greatly appreciated.

Hope everyone has an excellent Labor Day.

The Tapoco Lodge is a good choice; nice roads to warm you up for the dragon. A short ride into town for dinner as well. Oh, the dragon gets messy when wet...

Tail of the Dragon is 318 curves over 11 miles with curves tight enough to make you think you're bending your car in half. Even has it's own website! Enjoy!

Speaking of which....where is that rascal Larry and Kermit. Can't say I've seen much of them around lately.

Tapoco is a nice place, been a few year's since I've stayed there though. It's big with the annual Mini gathering at Deal's Gap too. If you want a good road between there and Greenville, I've been told 276 through Caesar's Head is the best. I have not driven it myself, but have heard good things. Below is an excerpt from our recent local PCA newsletter:

"...Some Friends and I recently did a great motorcycle ride through the Blue Ridge and Smokey mountains... It would also be a great drive in your Porsche. We started out in Travelers Rest, up 276 to Caesars Head, through Brevard, under, over and down the Parkway and lunched in Cherokee.
We continued west on some great curvy mountain roads, like Hwy 28, to the Cherohala Skyway. The Skyway is fantastic, a high road similar to the Parkway but with less traffic and faster. We hit a rain shower that slowed us a bit but it was a great ride. We went through Tellico Spring and took a side trip along the Nantahala River where there was lots of kayaking
    and rafting going on..."

    Other

I spend quite a bit of time with my position in the investment world I have a couple of other passions.

I love F1 and have been to 31 events since 1973. Many great races and drivers, some a bit less(Indy 05).

Otherwise I am avid historian of the Civil War period and collect artifacts and art of the period. I'm also involved in various battlefield preservation groups to ensure the survival of this sacred ground.

I have a property on the Charleston South Carolina coast affording me the opportunity to enjoy some of the best golf in the US.

No musical talent but I do enjoy ABBA.

    Joe,

You probably meant for your post to go under the "what other non-porsche interests do you have" thread.
