    RS "Recreation"

Body: USA Model 1971 911T. Irish Green (original color)

Engine: 1974 2.7 RS 911/83 original except hydraulic tensioners.

I have posted a little update with pictures on PP as it is a bit easier to upload pictures on PP.

Lots of fun to this point and it is looking better now.

Looking good! Will you be using a Carrera script?

Have not decided yet on any script (style) and or color of script. I am leaning towards a lighter contrasting green. But that is a lot of green which really isn't my favorite color.

The interior will also be partially green (alcantara or micro suede) on the headliner. I have early Turbo seats in black leather bolsters and green alcantara inserts (all work by Tony Garcia @ Autobahn Interior). To keep things occasionally authentic I have a set of NOS Early Recaro Sport Seats (<73 style).

I am going to have some fun with this car as it will never be a "real" RS. I guess it is my "R Gruppe" version if my may borrow this name for the sake of describing this hot rod version.

I know that the purist will now rebel as I am also going to do the dash top in black alcantara. It will dress the interior up nicely, and what the heck, Porsche is now using this stuff in the 997s, so I am not that much off.
These will be the only non-"authentic" touches to the car, but as I am the one that will spend ALL of its driving time in it, it will have to suit 21 century updated taste.

I have spoken to Tony about the choice of materials and he reckons that the interior will be stunning.

So, now to answer the question regarding the script again...I still don't know what will combine the best.

    Cheerios,

    Mike

'92 Acura Integra 190K miles (slowest) but sooooo reliable and great car that pays me dividends every mile I drive it.

    Mike,

I have a photo somewhere on some computer that shows a special order Irish Green original RS that was also ordered without a ducktail (it has an AL rear lid instead).

It really looked great. Just a thought if you wanted a little different look than the 'run of the mill' RS.

Would like to see any Irish Green RS, esp. the one w/o the tail. I guess it will look kind of like a ST with the wide back.

    Can you post here?

    Rats!

I have looked on 3 different computers and I can't find the image of that RS. It is quite a memorable car and I know who posted it originally so I will see if he still has it. Stay tuned........

Rick C. came through for me and still had the images of the Irish Green RS. It has been awhile since I have seen these and didn't remember the light weight look. The Touring trim would look better but still is a great looking car IMHO.
