    Tansmission #131290

    Gearheads,

Does the above number make any sense? I thought the transmission serial numbers were always 7 digits?

This number is purported to be an early type 1st down and to the left 5 Speed. Thanks.

    The little spec books

..have this information but mine start at 68. Is there someone who can check the 65-67 book? I think this transmission number might be in that year range? Thanks.

I think (pretty sure) first half 65 but may be others can confirm this.

Incorrect. He better checks his specs: "130001-131571 (6cyl engine)"

    I had it all along!

    Hi Gearheads,

The problem with the Little Spec. Book is it's little! Hard to read for these older eyes. In fact, my transmission is near the end of the '67 year model and my car 11830172 near the beggining of the '68 model year cars. So, could be correct, only the Kardex knows for sure and I don't have that yet. Note, the notation of the number of trannys made. Just a few more than SWB cars through '67 model year. Make sense me thinks. Thanks!

Old thread, but just was doing some searching and found this. This trans is in my '68. Details are #131290, part 901301101.OR, 902/1, date 14/67, afmsx gearing

My '68 was originally a sportomatic so this trans was put in later at some point .
