    McQueen Auction

Peterson Museum, LA. Doesn't look like much auto stuff, lots of long-guns though!

McQueen's Persol sunglasses from the film "Thomas Crown Affair" went for $70,000. What would his 1969 911S have gone for!!??
Better yet, who would pay such a crazy price for a pair of sunglasses?

One can only imagine...his '58 GMC pick-up went for $110,000 plus fees...

For the sake of accuracy, The Persol sunglasses actually went for $60,000.....but still. I guess if a pair of Elvis glasses go for over $100K in that collector world, $60K is a bargain, especially considering the Iconic status Steve McQueen has become (similar to Elvis I suppose)

I approached Barbara McQueen to sign my catalog on the Persol page during the auction (which she was happy to do) and she asked me if I had purchased them. She said a friend of hers told her she wanted to sleep with the guy that bought them. I had to laugh and instantly share the story with my wife.

Chris, the story here states $70k. Not that it makes much difference...

If Persol is not carrying them at this time, I guess they will do a re-edition pretty soon.
