which TIG welding rod matches Fuchs alloys ?

    Hi

does anyone have a good rod to use for welding Fuchs alloys , Which alloy 5061 etc will have the same color ??

I have a buddy that can TIG weld them , but I woudl like to get the color right so you cannot notice the weld ,

its a chip out of the lip on one of them and some curb rash on another one

    thanks for your help

    Dave

You would use aluminium filler rod cause that is what the wheels are made of
be careful that is alot of trust in the weld

It was recommended to me to use 5355 rod by the guy at the welding supply store. I don't know his qualifications, though.

The alloy of Fuchs is 6082.

Hello: On something like that to get the perfect match will be very difficult. You could actually use an old junk Fuchs wheel and cut it to use the wheel piece as filler rod. Hope this helps. Thanks Eric

This may help, after you find out what alloy the wheels are made of. My guess is they are forged out of a 6000 series.

Getting the materials to match, even after grinding and shaping will be difficult to hide once (if) you reanodize.
