    Limited Slip for a 1970 911

My 1970E does not come with limited slip but having previously owned a 73S which did I really miss that opiton especially in cornering, which is where we really appreciate these cars. What are my options for installing one? Is it possible to source a factory LSD for a 1970 model? What about after market? Any ideas on cost plus labour? Suggestions appreciated.

The ZF factory LS are very difficult to come by but there are modern alternatives Quaife, GT etc.

    Peter, Phil,

Thanks. I'll check out the Quaife website. Had a feeling it wouldn't be cheap.

The Quaife isn't the same as a LSD. I believe the Quaife works like an open diff when your not on the gas, i.e. lifting through a corner, where as a LSD drives both wheels all the time.

Hello: If it was me and you are going to drive the car on the street and track buy a Torque bias differencial. Either the Quaife or GT. They don't wear out and are the same all the time. With a clutch type diff it does change with heat and wear. Also how do you want it set up 40%, 80%. With the Quaife it is the same all the time. You will have to learn to drive the Quaife a little differently to keep it locked up. If you lift it will unlock but back on the power and it locks up again. I like the lightened GT diff and installed one in a 914-4 2.4 liter car. It works great. For a full race car it is a toss up which one I like. If a long race I like the Quaife for short races disc type differencial. Hope this helps. Thanks Eric

Give a call to Carquip as well. On occasion they have one or two around. If they don't they may know where to find one. As I bought one from them a little over a year ago...they are not cheap!
