WTT: SWB Butterfly Horn Button for Early 912 Style Horn Button

I'm not up on my SWB stuff so don't blast me if I get something wrong, here. I have what I believe is a SWB style butterfly horn button in what appears to be quite nice condition. I would like to trade it for an as close to perfect as possible 912 style horn button with the ribbed perimeter (no butterfly).

My butterfly has a couple of small nicks which would fill quite nicely with a touch-up stick and the chrome isn't flawless. Not too bad for something close to 40 years old, anyway. Pics below of what I have and what I want.

If you have the horn button I need and just want to sell it, let me know. Thanks.

    Hi,

I believe Mittelmotor in Germany produces a repro, you might try and e-mail them.

I recently found a really nice one after searching for a few months. Just a few comments and questions:
1 The butterfly version that you have is real nice! You may want to keep it and combine it with a hockey puck style core to get an excellent button.
2 Would you say that the horn "chrome" ring is actually chromed? I suspect it was actually clear zinc plated which is not as reflective as chrome and would expalin why most have quickly deterioted. I used 600 grit sand paper on mine and it quickly went down to the core material. Chrome should have been much more durable to time and such fine sand paper. I had mine zinc clear plated for a 12 pack of Bud long necks by a local plater.
3 By accident, I found out that blue magic works great at polishing plastic as well as the horn ring.
4 Black shoe polish, wax version - not liquid, works great at rejuventing the black center molded portion.
5 Don't forget to purchase all the misc parts to install especially of you just removed a momo (cup washer, spring, rubber bell bushing, horn contact, etc).
6 Tony does a great job at recovering - $350 for double wrap on a 380mm.
Cees - that would be great if reproductions were being made - I did not know. Do you know that price? $300?

J-P - in looking at your pics of what appears to be a well preserved example, that looks clear zinc plated.

I have a small button available

    JP

I have one that might need a new repro center pad with the crest. I believe Bob said it is available at $40. That's in case it does not like getting placed back under the ring. The rest is perfect.

I am open to the trade plus or minus.

    Thanks
