    Questions About H1's vs. H4's

I'm looking for maximum brightness when the high beams are on. H1's or H4's?

It's always seemed odd to me that H1's have only one bulb lit when the high beams are on. And as I recall, the high beam bulb is 35w and the low beam bulb is 55w, which also seems odd.

So are H4 high beams brighter than H1 high beams? I assume you could use more powerful bulbs in H1's, such as 55w? If so, does that require another relay? And would that make them as bright as H4's?

    Thanks,
    John Audette

    John,
Both the H1's and H4's have various wattage lamps available all the way up to 100w. The reason you need a relay is Porsche wired lamp voltage directly through switch, the small contacts can't relly handle the high loads the high wattage bulbs put on them.
