    Lightbulb Front spoiler question

So I'd like to add an 'S' spoiler to my 69 and see there are a few different types. The std spoiler is made from metal and replaces the std bumper which has the fog cut outs.

There are fiberglass repros out there that either go over the stock bumper or it replaces the stock front piece. Which is it?

If it replaces, isn't this a weight savings and preferable to putting on a metal bumper?

sorry if this is obvious but I'm not getting something here.

Fiberglass may/may not be lighter, but most likely will be cheaper. The metal S bumper's are spendy spendy, the fiberglass replacements are much more reasonable. They don't cover over the metal bumper, but attach to the same brackets. now the fun part, early cars (like my 67) and later cars (like a 72) have different mounting brackets due to the battery placement. So make sure you get a replacement that fits your bracket. I learned that one the hard way and tried to adapt a later bracket to my early car...

I think fiberglass is a good option, since you don't get rid of the original bumper (or spoiler), and that is good if you ever want it back to original, but they will add weight. Also Fiberglass looks really goos, and you really have to inspect it very closely to see or feel it's the fibergalss type. My car had the fiberglass spoiler when I got it, but then decided to go back to original and it was real easy.

Just added fiberglass front and rear bumpers to my car. Big savings in weight, especially in the front. I did not reinstall any of the trim and I think that it gives a very clean look. Both bumpers ran me about $400. I could only find an 'S' bumper or an 'RS' for my '71. I could not find a fiberglass standard bumper with the fog light cut outs.

Rennspeed makes them. I got one for my '68 from Peter.

Anyone know if the spoilers from Rennsport are the same manufacture as Pelican or Automotion?

The fiberglass bumpers are significantly lighter than the steel ones. Rennspeed makes theirs out of hand laid fiberglass matt - significantly stronger. These mount to the sides of the inner fender, but you will have to drill the mount holes in their brackets. I know - I have a new one for sale - $200.00 (obvious plug...).
