Thread: Lucky Me!!

    Lucky Me!!

    I'm truly stoked!

Today my friend comes into the shop and asks me if I want a VW Fastback. It used to have a Porsche flat six in it so the oil tank mods are already done. The car just needs a little cosmetic work and a motor and trans. Otherwise, it's gravy.

FREE CAR ... and a VW Fastback at that.

    I'm totally stoked!!!

Welcome to the world of Fastback ownership! These cars are 911s in sheep's clothing. Very similar suspensions and real room for four people. I wish I had a six in mine, but the 150 HP 4 cylinder and the close ratio 5 speed tranny do just fine.

Do any of you guys know any really good websites about these cars? I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the "off the wall" VWs, and I'm really interested in learning about 'em.

Also, if anyone has a line on good parts sources, I could really use that information as I'm going to need some trim pieces, turn signal lenses, etc...

Where's Dave Conklin when you need him! Try http://www.thesamba.com/vw/ first, then branch from there. Good luck!

Thanks, guys. Aside from the fact that these cars are just plain cool to look at and an absolute blast to drive, they are totally affordable. Sometimes I even miss my old, stock '70 bug.
