Fs Rare Factory "paint" Book '72-'87

    Porsche Paint and detail nuts,

I'm selling my factory paint book which includes paint chips, leather , cloth, carpet and color codes for seats. This book is hundreds of pages with more than 100 pages for paint chips. The book starts at 1972 for paint and goes to 1987. For other catagories the year range is similar but varies. The 1972 paint chip pages has 6 pages and I know some pages are missing but don't know which ones. Many colors overlap year after year so many, if not most, colors from even 1965 are included. But since the pages aren't numbered in anyway I can't tell how many. Ditto for other years. If you have specific questions please let me know. All pages are in excellent to better condition. The label on the book says 1978 which is not correct. Price is $425 shipped in the the 48 U.S. Frankly, it is difficult for me to value this book. If I don't sell it here (I'm not offering anywhere else), I'll put it on eBay starting at $200 and you can take your chances. Thanks

    Paint Samples

would you look up two color numbers #30736 Kastanienbraun (maroon) (auburn) and #30717 (Maroon) they are special colors and samples have not been found in any other sources.

If the book has already been sent out to it's new owner would you forward this message. One color is for a car here in the USA (body had been dipped and repainted a red)) the other is a historic racer in England (similar history).

    thanks

    Color info

    Bob,

I dont' think I have those colors. If they are truly special they probably won't be in the book(S). What year(s) are those colors? I can look some more.
    Have you looked here?

    Colors 30736 and 30717

    Allen and Randy
these two colors are in the dark reds to Maroon family because of the number starting with 307xx.

Thanks for the reference to Tom Tweeds site. He is hosting the 1981 Glasurit color samples I was able to scan a few years ago. They also show up in the "More" section of Winfields site. It's great they are being useful.

The 30717 is from October 1964 car. The 30736 is from a December 1966 car.

If you could look thru the dark reds, it sure would be appreciated.

By the way, another color was carried for years on Porches books but a sample was not widely published, it was a black metallic (with a gold fleck) that Ferry Porsche had his personal cars painted - including 300 049 (the first model 911) thru to the special 928 (with those frog eyes). Dr. Brett Johnson struck on the color while researching his book on 911 restoration but could not readily find cars in that color.

    thanks Guys.
