Thread: HEATED Sport Seats????

    HEATED Sport Seats????

a project I would like to try is HEATED Sport Seats. I have them in other cars, LOVE them. You either LOVE them, or you HATE them. "This is California, why do you need heated seats". I know, I know, I just want them, okay?

At the GAF, I spoke with reps. from both Autos Intl., and Autobahn.
They both had the same reaction, like they have never done it before. They BOTH stated that the heating elements in the seats would be easy, but the wiring is the hard part. Why would the wiring be the "hard part"? They both were NOT interested in the project.

There is someone is the Valley I have spoken to who does interiors. He has aaftermarket kit, that can be installed in the sport seats. Heating elements, wiring harness, switches, relays., etc. I will meet with him tomorrow.

Does anyone else, know, tried, installed, anything about adding heated seats?

    Heat

I know of one 356 Roadster that John Wilhoit put heated seats in.

I installed heated seats when I upgraded my old subaru to leather. It was quite easy. There are aftermarket kits and the wiring is easy. They trikiest part is getting the heating element under the upolstery. I am planning on doing this in my 914 (great for driving on cool days with the top off). I have not talked to him yet, but I wanted to get Stephan at GTS Classics to make met up a set of his 914 seats with the elements in place. I'll wire them up.

    Hey Ray,

Sounds very intriguing to the midwest contingent - considering it's 33º F here today! Will you trim it in your favorite plaid?? Nothing like sitting on warm plaid! (inside joke).

How 'bout a heated prototipo next? I just turned in my X5 with a heated steering wheel - it is the best option EVER! The new salt car didn't offer the option, REALLY missed it today.

    heat for.....

    Hi All,
We had always inqueries about seat heaters and after using for one customer a Italian Co ( we are still trying to get the wiring harness...) we are now using elements from Brandon Dist. The brand name is Rostra Prcision Controls Inc.
They offer a complete kit which is easy to install and with all wiring hardware and a 36 Month warranty
It's about $ 135 retail and we send the heating elements to Italy for installation and the wiring and control units to the customers direct.
Sometime you have to call twice until they send it out but the kit is well prepared, well functioning and so far no complaints.
There are basically 2 designs out one with a heated wire and the other with a carbon heating element..also accordingly a big price difference..
    with regards Stefan

I am sooo down with this.

I had my seats done a year ago and since have been lusting to change them to a crazy plaid insert.

I this is done deal in my head, I just need to find the right plaid. Does anyone know who has a good selection of plaid?

Heated plaid sports seats.... I can't wait.

    Wiring Harnesses

I work on a product development team that has people that could do a real nice job of making harnesses.

If a number of people want them I could have them made.

Only problem is my car is still a naked chassis still getting painted so there will be a wait.

    An FYI for the future.

    Smile heated seats

I recently installed some heated seats from CheckCorp on a mazda I was doing an interior re-do 0n. Since the covers were off the seats, the kit was an easy install and a perfect fit. Wire to ground, wire to switch, wire to power at the box, (non Switched) and a fuse and that was about it. All included in the kit. Plenty of wiring with the kit. About $125 bucks per seat for seat cushion and back. Very nice on those top down days. 3 year warranty and multi power settings for warm to burn you butt hot. Enjoy!
