    1970 911S Project Help w/price

I just came across a 1970 911S Project that is For Sale for $3500.00usd. It is a running basket case with it's rust, missing gauges, and horrible paint. It seems like a lot in this condition but is it? There is a title and it is orginally an Tangerine non sunroof coupe. This is something I myself would be restoring over a long period of time so no worries about expensive restoration shops. I guess my main question is, "If I can get this huge project for say $2,500.00, is that considered an okay buy?" Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like a worthy cause if you can restore it yourself over a long period of time. Is the engine all there?

The engine is running, this thing drives but it was completey rewired poorly and there is a problem holding charge. I guess the Drive-train itself is worth it? I have early 356's and I know them well but the early 911 market is new to me. Thanks again!

I'd do it; the drive train is worth the price as long as it is a complete S running gear. Pull the trigger. If it has the MFI, that is an added bonus.

I should've been more specific...Is the CORRECT motor there and does it still have all the original components? If you're not sure, I would recommend more learning and research before you jump into this project.

Going on the limited information, that's an okay buy IF you're looking for something in that condition to restore. It's worth $2500 in parts any day of the week.

Not quite sure how pounding the seller for an add'l $1,000 off makes much of a difference in the long run on your restoration. Sounds like a great way to spend $40,000.

    Smile Tangerine 70S

Not many of those cars around. I blought my 1970 2.2 911S in 1998 and have been going to a lot of shows in So. California saw only one Tangerine 1970 S and that car was a Targa. Herd about one Tangerine 70S that was brought to the 10 year Early 911S Registry party in Las Vegas 5 years ago that was a coupe but that is about it. How bad is the rust?
