    67 911S front bumper/spolier question

    Hello everyone!

I am doing some crazy work on my 67 912 Renegade. I posted a long time ago about upgrading my brakes to 67 911S. This project is now fully underway. I am upgrading the front suspension to 74 911 with Bilstein struts and "A" calipers with vented rotors. Rear will be the vented setup from the 67 911S I helped part out. All bushings are from Elephant Racing.

My engine is a well built 2.0 Type 4 from a 914. As you can see, I'm not afraid of being non-stock.

My real question here is: The 67 911S has a different front spoiler/bumper on it than my 67 912. It looks nice and I would like to salvage it for my car. The 912 guys seem to think that adding this piece alone is a bad idea and that it only works if the rear spoiler/bumper is also installed. However, the rear of the 67 911S looks just like mine. Am I missing something?

On a side note... I hope you don't mind a 4-banger hanging out here. I have been reading your old posts for sometime and most of you seem comfortable with someone doing "crazy" stuff with their car. At the 912BBS, I was nearly crucified for the engine conversion, even though I have put 40k miles on it over several years without so much as a single issue.

    Tony,

The only difference between the 67 911S and 67 912 bumper was the trim. Are you saying you have the S spoiler instead of the standard bumper? The S spoiler first came out in 72. It does not hinder performance or is dangerous without the rear duck. They added the duck in 73 which in conjunction with the spoiler improved even more. You're not likely to notice a performance difference below 100mph. Bottom line since you are hotrodding anyway, go with what you like! Personally I am not a fan of the spoiler on SWB cars but, hey! You're not out to please me anyway right?

    We love SWB 912 rods!
