356 Pricing... as it relates to early 911's

Okay, we've seen a lot of expensive early 911's come across ebay lately, now this 356 takes the cake.... $15,000 for a really rusty Cab.. What does this do to the early 911 pricing for rusty cars??

Please see my post "Finally got a 356". They are climbing and I don't know when it will stop. Remember when you could get RS's for 60,000? Don't wait for 356's to get out of reach, too. Find one. Buy one. Drive one.
I'll tell you this. I can not go anywhere without questions and thumbs-up. These things are attention magnets. And I can drive mine with my foot on the floor for more than ten seconds and not be in too much trouble. Police don't see these cars as "trouble makers".

Yep, I know what you are saying....

Five 356's in Dad's garage... I want the oldest one, just not sure i will be able to afford it when the time comes... Why didn't I buy more Starbucks and Microsoft in 1988???

Well, up here the shops dealing in tubs (yes, I mean tubs...no fenders, driveline, not much of anything but the actual tub) in relatively good condition but with the usual rust go for $5-8 G's. Right now I'm trying to determine if salvaging my totally rusted pos 72 is a better value than buying one of them and still sinking in to my knees wallet-wise to get the shell right.

There's a barnfind 70E with an S engine in it out in midwestern canada asking $10,000. No word on it's real condition yet though.

Condition starting to matter less and less. Just like comics and coins, the really good ones are out of reach. The bad ones are "not so bad" and priced accordingly. If you want to be in the club, nows the time to buy.

One significant problem that applies to many 356's as well as 911's is that you cannot properly restore a rust bucket for less than the price of a nice restored or original example of the same model.

As many people have said before me; buy the best car you can afford; let someone else absorb the restoration costs.

    Erik,

No worries the next recession, which is not that far off, will drop the value of all our cars substantially. So if you are patient they will be reasonable again.

You mean the red one that's been in a garage for 12 years? I don't know anything more about it, but I saw the ad...
