    Piston crown numbers

    Howdy all:
I posted over a pelican, but have not had much success. Can anyone enlighten me as to what the numbers that are on the piston crown mean? They are Mahle 92mm pistons.

This is as they are shown in the picture:

    200
    | | |
    0899

    1

    24/6
    91.89

and cast into the inside skirt is 195 (on the intake side).

The 91.89 is the piston diameter as that is exactly what it measures in mm.

    Any guesses on the others?

    Thanks in advance,
    tadd

I think the #1 is the weight class. They used to put this in a triangle.

according to me the big "1" is the tolerance group of the piston.
The one at the bottom is the new diameter.
they are nubered 0, 1 or 2 and normally they are used in a corresponding set of cilinders (they also have these tolerance groups)
The figure in a triangle should be the height tolerance group of the cilinder.

    No clue about the rest....

    Tadd,
Info is from the "Pistons Manual" Nural, Alcan Deutschland GmbH.
