Thread: Final thread on transition from 65-66 model yr!

Both are correct. Later mufflers are unfortunately for us early guys not under an angle anymore. My bali blue 911 still has such a muffler but it's getting bad. Black sattin is supposed to be in the depressed area of the rear decklid. At least it was on my June 66. Another detail are the rubber strips.

    Angled tail pipe

    David,
that tail pipe on Shift@6's car is a mod to look like the 901 slash end pipe.
Next to it is the factory photo and a larger detail of the end of the pipe.

The Shift@6's homage to this part is to install the chrome tail on backwards. It's the right look....but watch out for your shins...it sticks out a few inched too far and it will catch your tender body parts.

A friend stopped over with his mounting the reverse way, and after a bunch of bandaids for both he and his misses, (guess what prompted the change) we used a two by four, a medium sledge hammer and a healthy bump - to remove it and install it correctly.

With all these VIN/ engine numbers coming to the surface, would it be possible to get an online database in which we can enter (cardex) info and some pictures? It might become a great tool for future reference since we can include the cars from the threads that SOTERIK started.

By the way I am aware of the registry on the other early Porsche911 board but that one seems to be no longer maintained?
