    Few questions about early 911's

I am interested in purchasing an early 911, without much knowledge, i have found myself fond of the 1967 912.

-Green VDO gauges found on the 1967 911's. what was the last year the gauges were green?

-what years do the rear windows pivot out?

-what are the few things i should look for besides rust when purchasing?

Thanks for any help. im just looking for a nice clean porsche to park next to my fathers 993.

    Allan,

You should first read about what you are looking for - Paternie's little red book and Brett Johnson's restoration guide are a good place to start.
Secondly ,you should look for an expert in the early 911s in your area to do your PPI.
Good luck and keep asking questions here !

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

Allan, if you're looking at acquiring a 912, you might also check out the 912 Registry website (link posted below). That, and the suggestions, above, should help you get started. Best wishes on finding the right early car for you.

    Allen,

It is best to heed the advice provided for you here.

Green gauges came in early 1967 911's generally with the Solex cams (901/05 engine). Mid year 67 they changed the cams (less radical for the 911 normal) and the gauges became white on black around the same time.

Popout rear windows ended somewhere with the mid-year cars - around 1976 or so.

You need to look at everything with these cars. A PPI is in order if you find a halfway decent one.
