Valve adjustment: Need a new tool

Just did my third valve adjustment. This time with a dial gauge. After the first cylinder, I threw my feeler gauge into the tool box. Instead of blindly trying to fit the feeler between the valve stem and set screw, and once accomplished, saying "yeah, this feels good", you know exactly what the gap is. If any downside, you will try adjusting your valves to the nearest 100th or 1000th of a mm, depending on how anal you are. My problem? Borrowed the dial gauge holder from a local shop. I want one of my own. Performance Products used to carry it, no longer do. Anyone know where to get one? I've hopefully attatched a picture of it next to the dial gauge. Thanks!

how long did it take you (and how many needed adjustment)?

I just did mine using the 'backside' method and found it seemingly a lot more accurate than the std. feeler guage thingy.

Bill, sounds like a deal, pm me, I'll send you a check. Why are you letting go of it? Berettafan, seen your posts on the Dorki forum, if your not in Berlin Germany, but in Berlin, Md., we ought to get together, got a lot in common, I've already been through alot what your posting about. Oh, took me about 2 1/2 hours. Had a top end rebuild about 1500 miles ago. Most valves were .1 mm to loose.

Berlin, MD is correct. Are you far? I have only owned the car just under a month and haven't had a chance to meet and play with other Porsche people.

I have had a couple responses to my post of $60 shipped, this is for the holder only, not for the dial indicator. Now all I have to do is find the thing. Its been in my tool box unused for 10, 15 years or so... mdjohn, you have dibs...

Bill, you need to clear out your pm box, it's full and won't accept any more messages. When you find the holder, pm me your address and I'll send you an addressed and postage paid container for shipping, along with my check. Eric, I'm about 120 miles from you, just north of D.C.. Now that the weather is turning cold, Dorki's will start dropping engines faster than a frat boy can drop pants at a kegger. Plenty of good people, food, drink, and info at these events.
