'66 Consigned to Barrett Jackson Jan '07 auction

Here is what appears to be a fresh restoration on a '66 911 Coupe that is scheduled to be auctioned without reserve at next month's Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale. I am not familiar with the shop that did the restoration but am certain some of you will step forward and share your thoughts on this car and/or shop.

Looks interesting on the surface at least.

Very Nice! I could go for a nicely restored original SWB car vs a sports purpose car.

    >>>I will most likely be there to watch the circus.<<<

It's the new Barnum & Bailey for sure. I got my preview catalog in the mail the other day. I think every Hemi Cuda and half of the Shelby Mustangs on the planet will be auctioned off! Maybe a good place to scoop up a 66 911 for cheap while nobody's looking.

Car generally looks well done, but there are no pic's of the interior which leaves me wondering. Is that a pic of Tony at Autobahn doing the seats? If so, that's a good sign.

Am I wrong in believing that car is worth at least 30k?

I see cars that need a lot of work go for 8-15k, so wouldn't 30k seem reasonable for a turn key item?

    about this 911........

Am I the only one that finds the front chassis plate ....errrr, unusual? Note the welding around the edges? And,for that matter, does the stamping look correct?

It makes no sense that someone would swap a number that is not correct into another car. But that part would certainly worry me if I was buying. You guys ususally know a LOT so comments appreciated. Educate me!

It looks more like they taped off the plate. Notice the radius in the bottom left corner, no one can weld like that
