My father had a set of these Americans installed by the dealer on his new 914-6 back in the early 70's. We went in to take delivery and the car was still sitting on the show room floor with the new wheels and tires installed. When he asked the sales manager why his car was not fuled and on the curb ready to go. The sales Manager Chik Staton said that there were clearance proublems with the set up on the rear. Dad bent over to take a look, turned to me and tlod me to go and get my baseball bat out of the car. You guessed it, dad started to stick the end of the bat between the fender and tire. Sales manager started jumping up and down crying no way ! Dad turned and handed him the check for the car and told him to stop sniveling. He rolled both rear fenders. looked great for years.

Oh the trouble with those American's was that they were not hub centric for the applacation. Had a set of spacers made up in the Squadron machine shop. I sometimes wonder how much the bill was to the US AirForce for those four spacers .

    7" wheels w/ 4" backspace? I don't see those fitting a non-flared 911.
