    Hi Erick,

Either my little specs is wrong or a you were too overexcited but 11830257 is not a S VIN.

$3500 for a listing with a 2" by 2" picture. If it turns out to be a good deal that that is the proper reward for the buying who took his chances.

Anyone who buys an early 911 for $3,500 with so little info and one small picture would be better off betting on the ponies at the track. That is pure gambling.

    I used this site:

    http://www.adelgigs.com/911vin%20numbers.shtml

to verify the vin. Site incorrect? I have heard it is a bit difficult distinguishing the SWB cars from each other. Are there people out there that could make a correct chart listing the vin range for each model of the SWB cars. Maybe other sites?

I obviously was smart enough to buy the car. I thought someone who lived close by would be able to look at it while it was still for sale. So what model is this car? Anyone know what engine was in it?

The VIN of 11830257 shows it to be a US 911 Normal coupe. Mine is 11830241.

    A '68 911S would have a 0 in the fourth position.

Erick; this site is better for checking VIN (or the Elferhelfer.com site)

    http://www.mindspring.com/~blained/vintage.html

    Result:

Specs on this 911 are as such:
    Built in 1968
    coupe, US-version
    Porsche body
    Thanks for checking the VINtage.

    Congrats on the buy.

But the car wasn't actually ever touched by anyone at Motormeister, right?
