Wink Modified Horn Grills for S/T

I need help. In my ST project, I'm not sure what to do about the horn grills. I could leave them, remove them or modify them. What do you suggest? Any pixs out there of cool modified ones?thanks for your help.

All my pics of STs show either standard horn grills, or no grillls at all.

    Wink ST Grills

    Thanks Nick,

Here are pictures of an ST with modified grills. The car is the one Walter Rohrl uses in a rally video and the basis for our ST project as it's apparently a very reliable and known ST. It's in the garage where I'm having the ST built:

Are you familiar with these headlights and are they original?

Hmmmm...expanded metal with edging around it??? I wonder if that was an early attempt at weight reduction.

    Milou,

How do you know it's original and not home made? I do not know much about LWB but I tend to believe that the headlights are not appropriate either? I would expect H1 or H4 and not those 65-68 lights?

    Not sure...

The car is a historic ST, quite well known and having won a number of historic events. Not sure about the grills or the lights, they could have been added later though....

But its not to original is it? In the video it says it has a 3.0 RSR slide throttle motor doesn't it? The headlamps look like the ones fitted to very early SWB 911s, I probably have a pair available.

I've seen this before and even made a set for my car at one time. I used the grill screen from a 65-68.5 decklid grill and the same edging used for the rear quarter windows. I know that some people have even used rain gutter screens to fabricate a set.

    so it's correct....

Thanks for the info. I guess the mesh on the orange ST is larger and comes from a later grille. What did you use as a frame? I's like to reproduce them and can probably find the grille and the 3/4 window material, but then what?
