    Early 911 Production Tables

    911 Number Crunchers,

Here again is my summary table plus two (one spreadsheet has been split into Coupes and Targas for readability) tables for 911 production, with chassis numbers through 1973. These tables and have been pretty thoroughly checked and "cross-footed" for math errors. As mentioned by others in my earlier thread, there are many inconsistences and errors in published chassis numbers. I'd really like to improve my information, so if you have chassis number information, especially, that is different and you have a high confidence in, please post and I'll update when time allows. Thanks.

Very useful, a lot of people have looked for a correct table for this info.

Sorry to seem difficult, but I still think about half of the 1965 3158 cars in your table belong to model year 1965 and the other half in model year 66. Those cars produced from the beginning of September to December 1965 are 1966 model year. A lot of books have this error. Can somebody with more knowledge than me about this clarify this?

I am starting to wonder if this fault in 1965/66 does not apply in later years?

see this tread I started earlier:

    Need help on early years..

    John,

It is highly likely that the early SWB cars may have some confusion and splits between model and calendar year. Starting in 1968 I'm pretty sure that the published information has been pretty clear that these are MODEL years, not a calendar year. For one thing, the chassis numbers are intelligent and link to model years.

The acutal production date, by itself, while very interesting is not especially useful unless it is tied by the factory, by the Kardex, to a model year. A calendar year (or production year, which as has been pointed out are not the same) table or chart is not, at least, my intention.

One thing, then, that would be useful is Kardex confirmed chassis numbers and model year (actual production date would be nice but not necessary) from members whose cars are on the cusps of model year change. Thanks.
