How much would a set of RS rear fenders and front bumper devalue a 72 S Targa.
Opinions please,
Phil

To certain buyers, by the amount it will cost to put the car back to original...

To others, it won't matter. That said, flares are a bit more likely to detract from the value of a targa than on a coupe. They don't add value, but I don't think they detract value either. You may just be shrinking your buyer pool by a little bit.Originally Posted by 72targa

Is anyone doing anything to their 'S,' any more? . . .
. . . other than 'restoring' them?
Like kenikh said, you will loose all those looking for an OG targa.
But I don't think that it will devalue the car a lot
I know-I know . . . but this post is still relevant, isn't it?
Everyone's always been soooo careful when it comes to messin' w/ an 'S' . . . even Back Then
As far as I can tell --- the last guy to really 'hot rod' an 'S' . . . was Flunder and his Olive Tart . . .

I would've thought that after all this time --- especially w/ values where they're at now . . . people would breathe a little easier about maybe doing a tweak-or-two . . .
C'mon, Paul --- you're not gonna bump the displacement/HP a touch? . . .
. . . maybe add a steering wheel? . . . .
. . . or a 10k tach? . . .
. . . anything?
IMHO.
Keep your 72 targa the way it is. Save this car from making it look like a million other wide body cars. Sell it to an enthusiast for "a ton" of cash. Buy a mid-seventies car or an SC and modify the f### out of it. No regrets that way. Also, this way, you won't have PETA (Porsche Enthusiasts Totally Anal) throwing blood on you at the next club gathering. Or........what ever, it's your crap, be creative and do what ever you want to. It'll give the rest of us something to talk about.
Just a thought,
P.
I'm standing here looking at mine... in all it's NON-STOCK glory! And, I will DRIVE IT when the snow melts! I've just got my cap, rotor, Clewett wires, and Pertronix points eliminator kit in from the Bird.... Then I'm getting a fresh set of tires and am going to drive THE WHEELS OFF my 35,xxx mile '73 "S" like I stole it!!!
