    Aluminium bumper center piece

A guy here in Germany has a few of the middle sections in aluminium, where the number plate goes for the 65-73 cars. They are new. Is this an interesting item to go for and what is it worth?

    Michael,
Restoration Design sells repros @ $90-95.

There were a bunch of poorly formed repros on ebay about 2 years ago that went for $70 to $100. Look at the openings punched at the top if they have the same dimension from the top edge they are the better ones. The poor ones were off by almost a half inch (12mm) lower on the right side than the left. So when first mounted they look way off from level.

The steel panel weighs 5.3lbs the aluminum is 1.8 Lbs.

Are the restoration design ones good enough to pass for original? How do you get a hold of Restoration Design? Thanks, -Scott

I bought one from Parts Heaven. Watch the top tabs. They can come off pretty easily as they are or were glued. Not a big deal.

they are in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. They do their own stamping and typically don't answer the phones when the big presses are pounding away so the fax is a better way to get to them.

I have bought one and will report on the quality when I get it, but due to the weak Dollar it will be too expensive I guess.
