Thread: Tire Recommendation

    Tire Recommendation (Pics)

Ok - my Fuchs (Flat 6x15) are at Al Reed's and I need a tire recommendation. The car is a survivor and I'm keeping it that way. Fuchs will be restored to original. I am currently running Yokohama AVS 195/60's. I do not track this car. Is there a good tire that will wear a little longer than the Yokos and look a little more period correct? I saw an early car with Michelin Pilots (I think 205-60's) that looked good.

I have attached a photo of a car whose tire I like - any ideas?

You can still get the original Michellin/Dunlop/Pirelli tires in the correct 185/70 size if you want. They are all pretty expensive, pushing 300 or more ea. I went with the Vredesten that is the correct 185/70 OE size/tread type but not so expensive, maybe 90 ea.

think closest modern size tire is the 15 195/60. you can search the thread and find lots of discussion on this

The Michelin XWX 185/70 - 15 is period correct and probably best looking tire you could use for a gennie look. Still made in France and so not cheap at $301 each.

I guess what I am really looking for is a modern that doesn't look as racey as the Yokos.

Can anyone make a guess about the tire in the first photo?

I like to use 195/65-15........I think they look "right".

    Just my opinion....

    What brand and tire?

The tire in the photo does look like Michelin to me. I've had Michelins that had treads that looked identical, but not on a Porsche.
