If this is anything like your "stoplight at the offramp" experience, Chuck, then YES I am glad you're having the same problems, too.

    more users??

I have noticed more (registered)members and GUESTS online...Especially over the last 2-3 weeks. The numbers are in the 70-120 range. Anything to do with it?
Like you said Chuck, "We are everwhere" As a result, more people logging on.

Popularity has it's price fellas. I'm no genius, but I'm wondering if we were to archive a lot of old threads to a separate linked server would help these issues. I suspect that a traffic increase might not be the underlying problem here. Any suggestions from you server gurus???

Now hold on just a NY minnut...

Before we go off assuming our problem is "local"...

I've been reading & hearing about some serious & concentrated hack attacks focused on the main internet "trunk lines" (for lack of a better term). These trunks are routed through only a handful of (I'm guessing huge) servers, owned by entities such as DARPA. The perps have been uploading massive amounts of junk data with the intent of bringing these server farms to their knees. The good news is that these attacks are evidently being handled and fended off in a competent and proactive manner by those on the "tip of the spear". The bad news is that the fallout is apparently effecting ".org" domains (of which this is one) more than others - don't know if I place much credence in that last statement, but that's what I'm being told at any rate.

The bottom line? if any of the above is true, then there's nothing we can do at this level, other than wait for the jam to clear up.

Other than that - Be careful, situationally aware, and alert...
    Cheers
