    Interesting early 911s

An interesting 71 bargain basement priced. For pics:

Car #: C846 This Speedster look was made from a very low mileage rust free 1971 Porsche 911 T Coupe. All of the parts where hand made from the Porsche roof and hand rolled on an English wheel. There is no filler or rust. The engine has rebuilt carburetors and upgraded cams. The soft-top was also hand made to look like a 911/356 Speedster. The suspension has sway bars in the front and rear with newly refinished factory 6 x 15 Fuch alloy rims. This 911 is very fun to drive and there is no side or rear wind buffeting at any speed. This 911 Speedster look took a long time to make and there will never be another one built! So if you are looking for something different and unique at a fraction of the price this is it! - European Collectibles (Costa Mesa,CA,USA,(949) 650.4718) $19,950

White with Green and Orange stripes, Completely Restored, Serial # 11899019R, Engine # 4080178, Type 901/02. 911 R # 11899019R was sold new in 1968 by Vasek Polak Porsche to IMSA racer Bob Barnes. Apparently it was never picked up by Barnes and instead sold in 1969 to Cullen Crabbe (Buster Rabbe’s son). Cullen Crabbe raced it in IMSA specification (White with Orange Stripe/# 32 livery). It was sold in 1978 to Bill Lanphear, Burbank, California. It was restored in 1985 by Dan McLoughlin of AIR (American International Racing) although it was sold to a Japanese collector without its engine and gearbox. While in Japan a 2.0 liter 901/02 motor with correct gearbox was sourced and installed to this 911R. This 911 R remained in Japan until August 2005 when it was re-imported to the United States by Symbolic Motorcar Company, San Diego, California. At this time it was sold to its current ownership where it has remained until recently being consigned for sale with Autosport Designs, Inc. It is currently in show condition with all correct 911 R bits and pieces.

This one appears in European Collectible's listings with many more photos:

It looks like a fun ride at a decent price, but I'd definitely want to check out the rigidity of the chassis. Open those doors wide and say, "Aaaaahh!"

Ayup, no mention, or visible clues, of chasis reinforcement. Could be a real 'flexi-flyer'. If they went to the extra work to properly stiffen it up, you'd think they'd ask more.
