    Originality vs Provenance

Nice car. Did anyone get a price on this one? So what’s more desirable, originality or a consistent race history?

Run hard, whipped, and beaten is good.

Porsche built the RS series to be raced, not gararge queens, unscratched, ect. A rally car that has been restored properly shows that these rigs can't be killed. Mine, a good example of left for dead, is almost ready for paint after 3 years of prep. This # 972 caught my attention as it was picked up by the original owner at the factory on March 30th of 73. Also gives you a good idea of how many of the RS's were made per day. My #987 was built on April 15th,1973. That's 15 cars in 15 days. Back out the weekends, and you are at less than a car a day. Concidering they made 1590 cars within a year, this March/April time period, they were kicking back and taking it easy. My car was also a rally car, with 55 major european rallys, and at least 6 overall wins. I also am curious what the asking price is. Concidering it's a lightweight, probably high 200's.

My car, #1248, has a 'Production Completion Date' of April 16'th, 1973. Go figure....
