    Early 911 Fog/Driving Lights Questoin

Hey guys. I am considering the purchase of through the grill style of fog or driving lights for my R Gruppe style of car. Since it is not an original style of car, I am considering other light options than the $$$$ Hella 169 lights. Hood mounted Cibies would be great, but are way more than I want to spend now. I am considering other light options and want to be somewhat period correct, but don't really know what was used in the period or what other R Gruppers are using. I have been looking at Cibies, but again am not familiar with what models were used and what they look like. I also considered Marchal, but it seems that the only ones I find are from the 356 vintage.

Can anyone help me with making an educated decision here? Curt, the rally expert, any ideas for me. If anyone had some detailed photos they could post of various makes/models, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks.

    Oscars!

Well a period solution that's financially more reasonable are "Cibie Oscars" which are simply mounted vertically into the front bumper's lip or through the original grills using a simple bracket. Some 911 used that solution in the late sixties

    Milou,
Great idea and I have been considering that. I thought I would post here to solicit other opinions as well. Still looking for photos of different light types.

There is also Carello, which made a lot of auxilliary lighting in the '60s and '70s, for mostly Italian marques. The model pictured can easily be used as thru-the-grill, with the standard (repro) bracket; they do require a bit more of the grills to be removed than the NOS ones I've seen. Carello lights can be found on eBay and various Alfa boards, and I have my own little collection!

While we're at it, anybody care to identify these? Both are on Safari cars. The one set looks like it has external adjusters. The other maybe just a protective covering over some standard Cibie's???

I thought these older Mercedes amber fog lights might make an interesting addition to the front bumper....
