Thread: Value of a 2.2S MFI Pump Core

Value of a 2.2S MFI Pump Core

I have a '009' MFI pump from a 2.2S that was represented as in good shape. In reality, it needs a rebuild - the control rack is stuck, and a couple pistons are stuck. It doesn't really make sense to keep this S pump on the shelf waiting for futher seizure when I can get a 2.4T redone and customized for my future plans (2.8/3.0 w/ MFI) when the time arrives. Basically, I'm looking for a value on the core as I don't want to screw anyone over, but I'd like to get some of my $$ back - whats a fair price?

    Thanks,
    Andrew M

009 is a good way to upgrade but with any MFI pump we can make ST/RSR pump

I have never seen that pump before. Very cool! What is it, the RSR/ST pump? What does the conversion cost? I had never known that you were also in the business of pump refurbishing.

Hello: I believe it is a converted 911 pump. It looks like it has a Mercedes diesel end cover and some home made cover plates. The oiler on the top is from something else Mercedes truck? They look very cool though. Thanks Eric

The Factory Bosch competition injection pumps differed from the street pumps in many ways. One of the most notable, the competition pumps (ST, RSR & 935) are lubricated by a separate oil reservoir not by circulating engine oil, essentially the pump body is filled with oil by a small fill plug on the front cover. The rack is “Dead Head” or “Direct Loss” lubricated by engine oil pressure. To my understanding this was done so prevent fuel dilution / contamination to the engine oil.

On the street engines the oil is pumped into the pump body by the same engine pressure port used to lubricate the competition pumps and has a simple over flow return to the engine crankcase via the breather housing.

Last year after the Monterey Historic’s I did my annual visit to Gus Pfister @ Pacific Injection. I documented my visit here on my 935 Website,

Have a look, I think you will find it very interesting.
