WTB: cowl fresh air vent frame and grill alloy finish

    Hi,
I am looking for a fresh air vent frame and grill in alloy finish for my early 911 (for at the back of the front hood) - mine is black anodized, which is not correct for my year - also happy to swap if someone is interested.
    Thanks!
    Kind regards,
    Anthony

I have never seen any grill that is not black. Even all the early prototype and pre-production cars had black grills in the books that I have

WTB: cowl fresh air vent frame and grill alloy finish

In Brett Johnson's book on page 23 he describes the alloy finish frame and grill, and also has a picture there with a 67 car (my year) with the alloy frame and grill installed. As my car is black, I would quite like the correct alloy finished parts as everything non-black of course looks quite nice.

He also says "...they were painted black in 1966 and 1967....."

What about 1965 and what about the picture in the book?

There are some inconsistencies in Dr. Johnson's book. Looks like we have found another.

I just saw one last weekend at a 912 gathering in N. Calif. It was on a 1 owner ’68 and the owner was talking about replacing it with a black one.

You may want to post over on the 912bbs.org in the N. Calif. section and see if you get a response.

My understanding of it was that the grill was always black. The early cars had a silver/alloy FRAME and on later cars the alloy frame was annodised black.
