    Drive Shaft Questions

When I got my 65 car it had already been fitted with Lobro drive shafts. It should have Nadellas.

Would I be stupid to try and find/re-fit the Nadellas? I don't know if it's true, but someone mentioned that the Nadellas didn't last for many miles. Can someone give me a definative answer on this?

    Nadella axles

The early cars were equipped with Nadella axles, Porsche changed to Loebro axles because the Nadella axles showed vibrations although the Nadella axles were homokinetic also. The change from Nadellas to Loebro was introduced in July 1966 when the 911S was presented. Only the LSD cars had Nadella axles until the end of MY 1968 (last SWB, A-series). Porsche recommended to change the Nadella axles every 10.000 Km because of the needle bearings wear, which is mostly located at the outer cross joint of the Nadella axles.
I am driving with the original Nadella axles as my car has a LSD. There might be a little more vibrations in between 80 to 140 km/h but it doesn't bother me. I wouldn't change to Loebro except you are driving a lot. And there are no problems with marten bites.....
    Just my opinion.

    Nadellas

    Hi Claudius,

When you say Porsche recommended changing them every 10k kms, does that mean complete replacement or were they serviceable and replaced the needle bearings?

Can you still get service parts for them?

    Thanks

    Hi All

I have joined this group to learn more about Nadella drive joints.

I am looking for the part below which I have been told by a Lancia club member is very similar to early Porsche 911 Nardella. The joint/shaft was originally fitted to a 1964 Italian special but missing these parts.

Can anyone identify the part and if Porsche does anyone have a pair for sale or potential sources?

    Many thanks Richard

    Hello Richard,

I am not sure if the Porsche set up will help. Here are some pics of a Nadella shaft we have in the workshop at the moment. We are looking into refurbing the pair we have here for a customer.
    In case pictures help?

    Hi Alan

Thanks for that post -- clearly the part I seek is nothing to do with Nadella.....do you recognise my foto at all?
