Sad news for me, but a great experience

    Hi All,

As some of you may know, I own Prototype R3 and have known the car since it arrived as a box of parts in 2001. Well, last Saturday, I finally drove it in anger at Silverstone, with a decent set-up etc etc and I can safely say that I have never had a better time on track ever. Super fun even on a slick track.

The sad news is that I have decided to sell her. I need the space, I know that family commitments and work will keep me away from any eventing for at least the next 5 years, and to be honest, I kinda want to restore something different - Something like a 2.4s could be fun.

Head has won over heart, but I would rather see the car out there doing something.

Andrew - great that you had the experience of driving it in anger before deciding to sell it.

I look forward to seeing your next project.

    Wink

Are we talking of the 3rd 911R? Is it the red one with leather hood straps?

If it's that one or any other 911R don't sell it because:

-You'll regret it for a long time (or forever?)

-The price is not as high as it should be (R4 was estimated $475.000-575.000 by Chirstie's last Summer)

-It is the first factory racing prototype in the history of the 911!

It will always be historically a highly important, desirable, and valuable car.

You have the immense chance of owning something really special.

I'm sure Chuff won't mind me posting the link I trawled up earlier today:

I watched some of your laps Chuff, sounded great. The car certainly stood out amongst the assembled showroom fodder. Good luck with your plans.

    Price....

Yes, slightly(!) higher than R4 which I think sold for around $600.000 (?) Last August at Monterey.
R3 seems to have a much greater race record which could justify the price difference.
Interesting to see if a 911 can break the million dollar mark. Good luck with the sale.
