    un-numbered motor

I have purchased a 2.0 motor w/ no numbers on the case. The fan shroud reads 911T. What's up?

I was led to believe that was because you were "supposed" to stamp the replacement case with the same number as the case that was being replaced.

So, if I have a car w/ a non-matching motor, I can have the case "stamped" with the correct serial number?

Last year I sold a NOS 7R case it had no type or serial numbers stamped on it at all.

Not quite. Cases are dated with a rossete stamp, so you should make sure that you have a correct dated case before you have it serial number stamped.
