    come on, northeasterners.....

I keep reading about all these cool weekly drives that happen on the west coast, and I'm wondering, now that decent weather is coming soon to the northeast, if we could do something.....it would need to be low-key, no commitments required, whoever shows up is game, and those who miss out, well, they miss out.

We've had great success meeting at the rest-stop on the palisades, and driving off from there....if we had a date for every saturday or sunday at something like 7am, and make it 90 minutes or so, so that all the family men could be back home with their family before lunch....seems like it could work.

any thoughts....could we pull this off? I guess my thought are that I have these great 911's that just don't get driven enough, I have a zero mile commute, so all the driving needs to be on the weekend, and if I had a committed driving group for a once-a-week jaunt, I think everyone would have a great time.

Lewis, I would be up for it as much as possible, and i'm sure we could rejig some things to make it work ... nice idea
Any other drivers out there to help make this a reality?

Whereabouts on the Palisades? Potentially a bit far from me being in the Queens/Long Island area, but a possibility depending on where you guys meet up...

I have been looking for an early car for a while. Would love to meet up with you guys even though I only have a 996. I look at all the threads from the west coast with envy. I never get to see nice early cars.

    Ya'know Rich,
You do get to see more early cars over here… to a point
Like our little controlled environments, and events...
But like everywhere else, when you're on the open highway, early 911's are like hen's teeth…

I had VW Bug for over 18 years… from '74 to '92. During that time I lived through the evolution of enjoying my Bug with hundreds of other VW owners all around me…. to not seeing another Type 1 on the open highway for a whole trip……

My last couple of trips with the Porsche, RGruppe Santa Rosa, Monterey Historics, San Diego… It was the same… not anything earlier then a late 80's Carrera outside the cities on the open highway for any of the trips……

When we do get 20 or so early 911's together for an event run on the highway…. What a great sight it is

The difference between our cars and a comparable age other make sports car is we can load it up, jump in, a take it across the damn country… fast...

    Sorry, feel'n a little philosophical this morning…

    DRIVE YOUR CARS……...

BTW- A GT3 is a pretty damn cool ride...

I'm with Chuck on that one. In my neck of the woods there are literally no early 911's. I see the odd SC and one 356 but that's it. Otherwise I *might* see an occasional 924, 928 or one of those big honkin pig SUV things

My business prevents me from hitting the east coast for a Saturday morning deal but I would if I could. I gotta hook up with those danged Toronto city boys and shake their tree one of these days. A.T....whaaaaaaazzuuuuup?
