    under dash questions

was doing a good cleaning on the car after a nearly 2,000 mile round trip and was wondering about a couple of under dash wiring things.

    1) is there suppose to be any type of lighting behind the the heating/vent controls on a 1970 to show them at night?

    2) there is a multipin wire near the back of the radio that plugs into the fire wall, what is that for? I found mine unplugged.

    3) also near the back of the radio there is a single blue wire tied with a yellow wire with red strip that are not plugged into anything. what are they for?

    car is completely stock

    thanks

yea looked the wiring diagram over but could not find this info. found one small bulb plugged into the heater control to light up, looked like there could be to places on ea side to plug a bulb in but the one on left side (as you face) there was no wire for bulb. was that the place for a bulb that had to do with the optional webasto heater? the bulb was burned out, are they still available?

The only light that I am aware of is one that indicates the blower fan is on. There is a small pullout plug behind the silver perforated area to the right of the blower control slider. You should be able to pull the plug out and change the bulb.

Now can I ask you to take one pic of inside your luggage area for me?

yes I have just the one 12volt 1.2W all glass light on right side that I have unpluged and ordered from Stoddards. it also looks like you could possibly plug in another light on the left as well but my car has no wire for right side. This might be where a light would be if you have the optional gas heater, can someone check that has a 70 with optional gas heater to see if they have a light on both left and right side of the fresh air controls.

I would be pleased to take a picture of the trunk. anything you would like to see in particular? I recently found an interesting heart shape cut into the original trunk carpet. I am wondering if it has something to do with heart early deep 6's

here is a 70 unit that is listed on ebay. it appears that there is a wire for the light on the left side as discussed but no wire on right side yet it does appear there is a receptical for a light on the right side. again i am thinking for cars equipped with the optional gas heater. if someone can confirm pls let me know.

    Pin Plug

    Hi

If its the pin plug just to the right of the radio it is the plug from the heater control unit that you have pictured above. Also in the pic above the lamp is in the wrong side as been previously said it indicates when the blower motor is running.
