    Unhappy Another hero gone...

Let raise a glass and take our hats off for 'the BIG MAN' ...

JACK McAFEE passed away last Saturday night....

My older racing friends say he would have had a much easier time staying ahead of the likes of Miles, Behra, and the rest, if he was about a half foot shorter and a little lighter.... even at that he was hard to beat...

McAFEE was a significant early Porsche racing reference. He was truly a pioneer. It is sad that he is gone.

On a related note, when I read the headline, I immediately thought of someone completely different. I was saddened to hear that Brad Delp, lead singer of Boston, had passed away. Now that made ME feel old.

Red face My first Road Race

The 1st road race that my dad took me to watch was on the 17 mile drive. It was the last race there. I was hooked on the whole thing, especially the those wonderful little silver wonder cars. I don't remember which car Mr McAffee was driving but i remember he was there and saw him race many more times. Thanks to him and his cohorts for the memories and this addiction. Thanks also to dad who never had a wonder car but always loved them.

    88

What was the significance of the #88? Seems like he had that number on multiple cars.
