Thread: Reliability

    Reliability

Not sure whether reliabilty, for the early 911, has been addressed specifically. At least, my search didn't uncover anything. Everything eventually wears but some things more frequently and consistently than others. I think it would be good to develop a watch list of those items that wear out consistantly in the early cars and parts to carry as spares. Also those items that are better upgraded then repaired/replaced. Well, anyway we'll see where this thread goes.

One item comes to mind right away

Constant friction takes a heavy toll as does poor machine alignment and inconsistant pressures. All of these factors contribute to the premature demise of the numbers on my Visa card!

Put a little over 15,000 miles on the 67 'S' last year with four DE's, The speedo drive broke twice, over course I have replaced it with a used one both times which might have something to do with the failures other than that normal wear and tear items items, brake pads, front rotors.
High voltage ign. seems to have kept the plugs lasting beside easer starts and better fuel milage.
Car is very reliaible,my wife and I primarily use the car for long distance touring, Very little city driven becouse of the time it takes to warm up the oil to rev. properly.
When I first got the car I went through all the mech. so this is starting from ground zero.
