Does selling your car overseas mean being a tritor?

    The fire begins.

I posted this point in another thread, but wanted to ask the philosophical question in wider distribution:

Given the prices that marginal cars are getting from overseas buyers (see the silver '73S that went for $35K or the rust bucket Ebay '67S for proof) due to the cheap dollar, is it wrong to want to max your ROI by selling overseas? There was some commentary that:

"Aren't we trying to keep the good cars in the U.S. ???", to which my response was:

"Depends on who you ask. For those who must limit the number of toys they keep due to finances, an abstract notion of "keeping cars in the U.S." shouldn't necessarily preclude maximizing ROI. I'm keeping my car (I was speaking in jest), but that doesn't mean that those who want to sell their cars shouldn't have access to good info."

I am curious what the board thinks:

    Max bucks or automotive patriotism?

I just sold my 72 to a buyer in Germany. He was the first to actually step to the plate with the money. Its a car and its money, in the end it doesn't matter who and where it goes to. However if someone feels differently I don't mind either, each to their own.
    Cheers,

    Steve

US....Europe.....It doesnt matter as long as you agree to crush them before you sell to a flipper

Seriously though, at some point we start taking these things a bit too seriously. The old saying of Cash talks, (well you know the rest) applies to all countries in my book. The only reason I would hesitate to ship overseas is because of the extra work it may cause.

I'd be interested to see results of a poll on flippers and whether they are welcome in circles of those who love these cars.

Seems there are two types of flippers; those that keep one for themselves because the love them and flip others for fun and profit OR those who don't know MFI from PMO and just dip in for the bucks with no apprecation for the car itself.
