That car was parked in the basement of the Hilton last Sat with a 4-sale sign in it. I was with someone else who has a very nice 67 S. We checked it out with a person who does 911 restoration. Great color. The word was that the owner was asking in the 30's $$. Gotta love America !!

There was a time when I would have been appalled to see that car demanding $30Ks. Nowadays, it seems low for a running Ess.

Hard to tell where the rust will stop with this one. There may not be much left of it once all the rust is taken out of it. It may look more like a Swiss cheese than a German car.

$30,000? I stuggled with that figure on the car posted a couple weeks ago. I'm REALLY struggling with it on this thing. If he gets it, the buyer of the other car flat out stole it!

I saw the car several times over the weekend in Los Angeles. It is owned by an acquaintance of mine who owns a 356 shop, and has been in the business for many many years. He has never been shy about the prices he asks for the cars that he sells, but he also has a very strong reputation in the 356 club for his work.

At one point over the weekend I heard he was asking $37K, and then I saw a sign on the car later that said $42K obo.

There is a "fair amount" of rust in the car... but it does run very nicely (surprisingly so in fact....). But I didn't ask about leak down or compression #'s.

Don't forget the car up here in the NW that sold on Ebay about 2 or 3 weeks ago, (# match, black 67S) it was a complete "basket case" with lord knows how much rust in that car as well... and it was $30K.

At least here, it runs and drives nice to start with.....

NO, I'm not going to buy it....I have plenty right now thanks....I also have no affiliation with the seller etc. etc.

limited supply and growing demand. Going from $37K to $42K is testing what the market will accept. If he gets it, good for him and good for the rest of us too. Someone has always got to pay a higher price than the guy before.
The one key is NOT to be the last guy to pay the higher price.

Every one of these cars only serves to make the early 911s a more attractive car to own. Oh yes, there's the driving too!

The attitude of what is "reasonable" price wise in the UK market (regarding US dollars) really opened my eyes. After reading a few classified in the British rags for decent Esses start at 30K GBP (for LHD cars, no less) has only reinforced my curiosity regarding how much the weak dollar is driving Early 911 prices.

Just wondering, if this car would have been offered mid 20's would it be worth it? I am aware that the 5 Fuchs rims are worth $4k -$4.5K, so basically $20K for the car as is? BTW it's a number matching car.
