    Hi Tom,

I'm on my third set of these tyres and I can't fault them wet or dry. They have a huge amount of grip and are very predictable at the limit. They make two compounds, normal and sport, but to be honest I've found the normals just as grippy and they last longer than the sports. I'm using 185/70 15's on 5.5 inch steels. I was recommended to them from a group of friends that race 356's/904/911's.

Just out of interest what do they cost in the States?

    Kind Regards
    David

I'm a fan of these tyres too - I have a set of 185/70 & 215/60 waiting to go on my 911R-inspired car.

Thanks guys. I've been quoted $209 apiece for the 185s.

    Where?

    Hi Tom,

What is the name of the shop and their location, please? I have been considering these tires, as well. Thanks.

Sasco Motorsport in the East and Roger Kraus Racing in the West are distributors for these. I'm going to try 215/60 on front/rear with 7 inch wheels. The tires have a great vintage look.

I run 185/70R 15 fronts and 215/65R 15 on the rear on my RS - I love 'em.

The ONLY fault (apart from the price ) is that they do take a while to warm up - perhaps 30 minutes on a cold day - and until then feel un-naturally stiff - like driving on marbles, you feel everything on the road.

But when they're warm, they're superb - very grippy. I discovered just how grippy when I did the parade laps at Classic Le Mans last year

I have a rep I've just bought for trackdays - and I ordered the set of CR6ZZ's earlier this morning

    Philip - I think you'll find your rears are 215/60 x 15...

The Avons are pretty much the only tyre you can now get in the original RS sizes of 185/70 & 215/60. So if it's originality you're after you have no other choice. Having said that I ran a set for a couple of years and found the very stiff sidewalls did affect the ride quite adversely. Fine for the track but not great for an English B road.
